Every grant awarded by the ASDP Charitable Foundation helps expand access to sewing and design education while strengthening the profession and the communities it serves. We partner with nonprofit organizations whose work creates meaningful opportunities to learn, teach, and grow through sewing and design.
Recent Grants & Partnerships
Raleigh Chapter of the American Sewing Guild
The Foundation awarded a grant to support the Raleigh Chapter’s ongoing work in sewing and design education. The grant helps provide sewing machines, educational materials, and learning opportunities for students, universities, and community organizations in North Carolina.
Lifting Labels
The Foundation supported Lifting Labels, a Maryland nonprofit that helps formerly incarcerated individuals pursue careers in sewing and related fields through education, training, and workforce support.
ASDP Apprenticeship Program
The Foundation established a sustainable fund to encourage experienced sewing professionals to mentor apprentices through ASDP’s registered apprenticeship program.
ASDP Student Challenge
The Foundation provided support for the ASDP Student Challenge, encouraging students to develop their skills, showcase their creativity, and pursue opportunities in sewing and design.
The Sewing Machine Project
The Foundation supported The Sewing Machine Project, a nonprofit that provides sewing machines to disadvantaged women in the United States and around the world, helping them develop sustainable sources of income.
ASDP Educational Videos
The Foundation supported the creation of ASDP educational videos, ensuring members had continued access to professional learning when in-person conference programs were not available.
Women-Sew Global Foundation
The Foundation awarded a $3,000 grant to Women-Sew Global Foundation's Stitching Lives Together program, empowering immigrant and refugee women through sewing education, creative expression, and community building.
